Specially commissioned by the British Museum in London, our Adonis earrings feature hand finished sterling silver and carefully selected lustrous carnelian stones.
The Phoenicians commemorated Adonis’ death when autumn floods turn the Adonis river red as mud from the mountains is carried downstream and celebrated his restoration to life by singing and dancing as red anemone flowers bloom in the valleys every Spring.
The blood-red carnelian stones and polished silver of these beautiful earrings reflect God’s purity and power and the skilfully textured surfaces echo the turbulence of the Adonis river as it carves its way down through mountainous valleys to the Mediterranean Sea at the ancient city of Byblos.
Approximately 5cm in length.
All our jewellery is made by hand in our riverside studio in the heart of Yorkshire. We only use ethically sourced materials from reputable suppliers.
Our jewellery comes wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and carefully packaged in a branded gift box secured with a ribbon. A polishing cloth, care instructions and an anti-tarnish strip (to limit tarnishing during shipment and storage) are also included.
